trade booking, lifecycle, and reporting
Using the SunGard® VPM platform AFA maintains a history for each tax lot starting with the initial trade, working through the lifecycle of the position and corporate actions, and to the final valuation or closing trade. VPM tracks all Profit and Loss, Accruals, and Mark to Market at a tax lot level and records all the information into a physical general ledger. Using the VPM general ledger report architecture AFA provides clients with transparent and useful reporting according to their needs.
For Private Equity funds, AFA uses SunGard® InvesTran which provides a double sided general ledger and investment record keeping. InvesTran offers multi-currency support and flexible reporting engine. It’s integrated investment lifecycle and allocation engine gives a AFA a unique advantage in servicing private equity funds.
net asset value, accruals, and investor allocations
Using the SunGard® InvesTier platform AFA pulls data through a data bridge from VPM complete with Hot Issue, Side Pocket, and other Uneven Distributions clearly defined which eliminates the need for re-classing or top-side journal entries. The fund’s fee accruals are then calculated based on their input parameters and the investor allocation engine distributes the income and expense.
For Private Equity funds, the SunGard® InvesTran product features an integrated allocation engine which can perform complex calculations such as waterfalls, tiered hurdle rates, and clawbacks. The system also features an extensible design which allows AFA to customize the calculation process for its clients.
relationship management and report distribution
AFA uses SunGard® Investran for relationship management and due diligence tracking. Investran features a robust CRM platform integrated into the other products and Outlook.
For investor report distribution AFA offers clients the use of SunGard® DX which is a secure online portal for distributing information to investors and related parties. The site features a two-factor authentication process and the ability to securely partition folders inside the data room for controlled access.
